Welcome to the 13th edition of the Arona – Tenerife 2024 International Combined Events Meeting!

We are thrilled to welcome you to this exciting sporting event, which will take place on May 11th and 12th at the Antonio Domínguez Stadium in Playa de Las Américas, Arona – Tenerife. Beyond the international athletic competition, we are proud to showcase our commitment to sustainability and environmental care through our Environmental Management Plan.

In this edition, we have implemented specific measures to minimize the environmental impact of the event and promote sustainable practices at all stages of its organization and execution. We strongly believe in the importance of preserving our natural environment and in the power of sport to promote positive change in our communities.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN GOALS

Main Goal

The main goal of the Environmental Management Plan for the 13th Meeting is to minimize the environmental impact of the event and foster sustainable practices throughout its organization and execution.

Specific Goals

Reduce the consumption of natural resources such as water and energy during the event.

Minimize waste generation and promote proper waste management.

Raise environmental awareness among participants, organizers, and spectators.

Collaborate with local authorities and environmental agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

 

  • WASTE MANAGEMENT

Implementation of recycling bins in all event areas to encourage the separation of containers/plastic, cardboard, and paper.

Contracting certified waste management services for the proper disposal of waste.

 

  • ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Use of energy from the facilities themselves without the need to install temporary generators.

Use of low-consumption LED lighting in all areas of the event.

Automatic shutdown of equipment and lights when not in use.

 

  • WATER CONSERVATION

Promotion of responsible water use among participants and attendees.

 

  • ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAM

Organization of environmental talks for athletes, staff, volunteers, and the general public.

Distribution of digital informational material on good environmental practices.

Invitation for athletes and teams to participate in voluntary environmental awareness actions.

 

  • COLLABORATION WITH ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS

Cooperation with local authorities and environmental organizations to continually assess and improve the event’s environmental practices.

Compliance with current environmental regulations and commitment to local sustainability initiatives.

 

  • EVALUATION AND MONITORING

Environmental Performance Evaluation:

Measurements of resource consumption and waste generation before, during, and after the event.

Analysis of results to identify areas for improvement and set more ambitious goals for future editions.

 

  • FEEDBACK AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Collection of feedback and suggestions from participants, sponsors, collaborators, and the attending public on the Environmental Management Plan.

Implementation of adjustments and improvements based on feedback received to strengthen the event’s environmental commitment.

 

  • MONITORING AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

We commit to evaluating our environmental performance and using the results to continuously improve our practices in future editions of the event.
